There's a strategic question more broker-owners are getting wrong than right in 2026: what is your real posture on teams? Not the polite answer. The operational one.

Team-friendly brokerages design their splits, tech stack, and brand around the assumption that production will increasingly cluster inside teams. Team-skeptical brokerages design around the individual agent and treat teams as a tolerated exception. Both can work. The mistake is trying to be both, which usually produces a brokerage that frustrates teams and underwhelms solo agents simultaneously.

The producers worth recruiting have already noticed which posture you actually have, regardless of what your marketing says. A team lead can sniff out a team-skeptical brokerage in the first meeting — usually by what's missing in your tech stack and how your splits handle internal referrals.
